Dr. Rachel Sudderth Cook graduated from Texas A&M University and is a proud Aggie.
She joined Animal Medical Center of Plano in June of 2015. Her professional interests include internal medicine, soft tissue surgery, dermatology, ophthalmology, and preventative medicine.
Dr. Cook has a passion for the human-animal bond: the special relationship between pets and their people. She has had many special dogs and cats in her life and understands that they are family. She looks forward to developing lifelong relationships with her clients, their families, and their furry friends through education, collaboration, and open communication.
Dr. Cook particularly enjoys the educational aspect of her profession, taking time to listen to her clients and making sure they understand their pets' medical needs. She appreciates how unique and different each day is in the veterinary hospital. She finds her work, patients, and clients very fulfilling. Dr. Cook genuinely likes to study and keep up with the latest changes in the veterinary world.
Dr. Cook grew up in Dallas. She graduated from Trinity University in San Antonio with a double major in Psychology and Sociology. She thoroughly enjoyed her liberal arts education and spent a semester abroad in Rome, Italy. She returned to school at the University of Texas at Dallas to complete her pre-veterinary science courses while working at veterinary hospitals and a human pharmacy in the DFW Metroplex. Prior to starting veterinary school at Texas A&M, she lived in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania, for a year, where she learned to appreciate the rich culture and history that that area has to offer. Dr. Cook also learned just how cold winters away from Texas can get!
Dr. Cook and her family love being a part of the Plano community. When not at the clinic, Dr. Cook can be found spending time with family, working at the family ranch in West Texas, or snuggling her daughters, Sarah and Hannah. Dr. Cook also enjoys traveling, photography, and attempts to learn to cook. On any day of the week, Dr. Cook and her husband, Matt, can be found with a cup of coffee, a good book, and plans to get outdoors to enjoy the day. The Cook family also includes two "foster failure" cats (meaning that Dr. Cook and Dr. Carroll hand-raised these kittens, intending to find these kittens a home, but quickly learned that they could not give them up); the kitties are named Goose and Belle. Dr. Cook also has two beloved Great Pyrenes mix dogs- Elsa and Olaf, who are just the gentlest (hairy) giants.
